Wat Phra Dhammakaya Dunedin is a Thai Buddhist temple in Dunedin. Located in Caversham, we are the only Theravada Buddhist temple in Dunedin.

The temple was established in 2007, and has been a focal point for the Thai Buddhist community in Dunedin ever since. We have a regular Sunday morning service and also celebrate Thai Buddhist festivals. On the first Sunday of each month, we hold a special service that continues into the afternoon.

We have a number of Buddhist monks from Thailand residing in Dunedin who take care of the spiritual aspects of the temple and serve the local Thai Buddhist community. The monks are supported completely by the Thai Buddhist community of Dunedin.

We welcome anyone who is interested in learning about Buddhism and Buddhist practice, including meditation, and also those interested in Thai culture and tradition. Several of our monks do speak English and are happy to answer any questions you might have.

We also hold meditation sessions on Fridays at the University of Otago. These sessions are normally led by one of the monks.
